Paddle boarding, or SUP as it’s commonly called, builds core body strength while allowing you to enjoy Nantucket’s breathtaking beauty.

Learn to Paddle is our basic standup paddle class and your first step in learning proper paddle technique. Learning the proper technique is beneficial for many reasons including increased performance, injury prevention, making SUP a core workout and enhancing your enjoyment of SUP. In a supportive environment, you’ll learn the fundamentals of stand-up paddling.

We’ll instruct you on how to use every piece of equipment, maneuver your board and the best paddling strokes for specific wind and water conditions. You’ll receive one-on-one coaching with personalized corrections for more efficient stroke technique, and plenty of time to practice what you’ve learned.

No matter where you are on your SUP journey Paddle Nantucket will help you get on the path to efficient paddling.

All necessary paddle boarding equipment is provided.

*Synthetic clothing dries quickly and is the best choice for outdoor pursuits. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry. We also recommend you dress in multiple layers, allowing you more flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.

What to Bring

  • Swimsuit and weather-appropriate clothing (preferably synthetic*)
  • Sunglasses with lanyard (polarized recommended)
  • Hat with visor
  • Small water bottle or hydration system
  • Personal prescriptions such as EpiPen or inhaler

  • Waterproof camera
  • Stand up paddle board, SUP paddle and US Coast Guard-approved Type III PFD†
  • Extra change of clothes
